I guess you could say I’ve been lucky.
I’ve known a great many remarkable people in my life... Even rubbed elbows with some minor and major celebrities along the way.
But most of the folks I’ve had the pleasure to know aren’t well known outside their own respective circles. Imbued with a humanity allowing them to touch the hearts and minds of people like me, they are, or have been, my family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, acquaintances and even momentary faces in the crowd. I continue to cherish them, look for them, and learn from their example.
I have known love and been in love. More than once. Ridden the roller coaster of romance and commitment until the ride came to an end, or unfortunately, the car jumped the track. But there were moments... So many moments... I would never trade for a safe and solitary life.
I am, or have been, a cartoonist, freelance writer, inventor, community developer, desktop publisher, music & arts director, innkeeper, newspaper columnist, historic architecture specialist, singer, landscaper, restaurateur, dog wrangler, and more - frequently at the same time!
I stuttered pretty badly until I was seventeen, so I learned humility, empathy and how to listen early on. Of course, now sometimes when all is said and done, I occasionally go right on talking, but it doesn't really take too much to shut me up :-)
I have been near death, but always managed to stay full of life!
I’ve learned we only get so many chances... Just so many trips around the sun. I’m not taking this or any other day for granted. Wonder abounds; surprises await; love endures!
I'll attempt to provide appropriate attribution whenever someone else's work slips in, and will humbly accept all but the most vile retribution when I fail to do so.
